    The Heritage Investment Fund provides business owners in Morley with the opportunity to access grant funding to uplift and showcase prominent heritage buildings. A review of the grant fund will take place in April 2024.
  • Public Realm and Highway scheme consultations closed

    We have closed our Greener and Connected and Station Gateway public realm and highway scheme consultations. We will review all the feedback submitted at this stage and report back with key findings before the next phase.

    We have launched our Greener and Connected and Station Gateway public realm and highway scheme consultations. We have provided outline design proposals for 5 schemes in this first phase of consultation. The information provided at this stage will help us further in the design process and the next phase.
  • Annual Satisfaction Survey launched

    We are now launching our annual satisfaction survey which aims to capture feedback on Morley and the Morley Town Deal. The information you provide will help us understand and capture community feeling and measure levels of success on an annual basis. This survey will form part of the Towns Fund ongoing monitoring and evaluation requirements.

    Complete

    The works at Hembrigg Park, as part of the overall Greener and Connected project have seen the installation of a new children’s play area and an outdoor adult gym, new seating and litter bins, new fencing, and the planting of trees and flowers. The project is the first of many improvements to be delivered by the Morley Town Deal and Leeds City Council over the next three years, utilising a £24.3m government Towns Fund grant.

    For the other three projects Morley Town Hall, White Rose Innovation Hub and the Morley Learning & Skills Centre consultation periods will follow the respective RIBA design stages of each project in 2024.
  • Consultation on Morley Conservation Area as part of the Heritage Investment Programme

    Complete

    A consultation exercise was undertaken regarding an extension to the Morley Conservation Area with a revised Conservation Area Appraisal Management Plan (CAAMP). If agreed this extension will safeguard more of the town's heritage assets as part of the Heritage Investment project.
  • First spade in the ground at Hembrigg Park

    Works commenced on site at Hembrigg Park and are to be completed by the end of March 2023. This is the first project on site for Morley Town Deal.
  • Detailed consultation starts on Greener & Connected/Station Gateway parks schemes

    Summer 2023

    Consultation was undertaken, both online and face to face in November 2021 specifically on the Greener and Connected and Station Gateway parks projects. The feedback from these events has helped shape the scope of the projects being taken forward. Detailed consultation was subsequently carried out in October 2022 for the first two parks led by Groundwork Yorkshire. The next phase of parks consultation took place in March 2023.
  • Business Cases approved

    Over the course of 2021 and 2022 substantial project development was undertaken across all projects, led by teams within Asset Management and Regeneration along with the support and advice of the LCC Programme Board, Morley Town Deal Board and four working groups who support the Town Deal Board. Following a rigorous Business Case approval process funding was released for the six projects that are now being taken forward for delivery before the end of the funding availability period in March 2026.

    The TIP bid was subsequently approved in principle by government in March 2021, with total capital funding of £24.3m to invest in a range of identified projects that will have the potential to deliver transformational regeneration of the town.
  • Morley Town Investment Plan drafted

    December 2020

    Leeds City Council's Executive Board approved the submission of the Morley Town Investment Plan (TIP) to Central Government in December 2020.
  • Morley Town Deal Board established

    Complete

    Morley Town Deal Board (“the Board”) has been established as an Outside Body to the Council to support the development and delivery of a Town Investment Plan that will realise the opportunity presented by the government’s offer of a Morley Town Deal. It is anticipated that this Board will continue to meet for a minimum of three years, beginning in Autumn 2020, although this will remain under review and the Board may have a longer term role.
  • Morley selected for Towns Funding

    In 2019 Morley was selected by government as one of 100 towns across England to bid for funding of up to £25m from the Towns Fund programme. In response to this the Council moved quickly to support the formation of a Town Deal Board comprising local stakeholders and residents, with a private sector chair as set out by the government’s guidelines. A major public online consultation exercise was undertaken in Morley in early 2020 to inform the development of the TIP bid for Towns Fund monies.
